Biography
Leila da Costa Ferreira holds a BA in Ecology by the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, Unesp (1982), Masters in Sociology by the University of Campinas (1986) and Ph.D. in Social Sciences by the University of Campinas (1992). She has earned a Post Doctorate degree from the University of Texas in Public Policy and Environment in 1995 and from the University of York in Social Theory and Environment in 2007. Habilitation in Environmental Sociology (1997). She has been a Professor at the University of Campinas since 2004. She was the president of ANPPAS (2004-2008). Member of the Associate Faculty of the Earth System Governance Project. Visiting professor of the top China-Shangai Jio Tong University/Summer Course program. Prof. Costa Ferreira has experience in the area of Sociology with emphasis on Environmental Sociology mainly in the following topics: environmental sociology, sustainability, interdisciplinarity, environmental issues and social theory. CNPq-1 Productivity Scholar. Unicamp representative at the State Environment Council (CONSEMA) since 2010. Among her most recent publications stands out an article at a Chinese Journal: Ferreira, Leila et alli. Governing Climate Change in Brazilian Coastal Cities: Risks and Strategies.
