Adenrele Awotona, Professor of Urban Planning and Community Studies, is the founder and Director of the Center for Rebuilding Sustainable Communities after Disasters, and a former Dean of the College of Public and Community Service at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, USA. He was previously a Director of Studies for the British Council International Seminars (“Reconstruction after disasters”) in the U.K. where he has also served at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne as a Director of Graduate Studies in architecture and urban design. Through research, consultancy and teaching, he has professional experience in several countries in five continents. His extensive publications include Planning for Community-based Disaster Resilience Worldwide: Learning from Case Studies in Six Continents, Routledge, 2017. Professor Awotona earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, U.K. and a certificate from Harvard University’s Institute of Management and Leadership in Education.

Dr. Ann-Helén is Professor of Political Science and at present she holds the position of Dean at Oslo and Akershus University College, faculty of Social Sciences from 2015. She served as Director of the Institute of Social Research (2007-20015), Professor at Oslo University College, Research Director / Researcher at NOVA. She is Member of the Board of Aalborg University, was member of the Scientific Advisory Board for European Social Survey (ESS), chaired the public committee for investigating the survivors' benefits in the Norwegian National Insurance system (from 2015).

Philippe C. Schmitter is an Emeritus Professor of the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute. Since 1967 he has been successively assistant professor, associate professor and professor in the Politics Department of the University of Chicago, then at the European University Institute (1982–86) and at Stanford (1986–96). In 1996 he returned to the European University Institute, where he retired in 2004. He has published widely on comparative politics, European and Latin America regional integration, transitions from authoritarian rule and democratization processes, and the intermediation of class, sectoral and professional interests. More recently he has been examining the possibilities for post-liberal democracy in North America and Europe.

Dr. Lydia Andrade received her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. She is the Chair of the Department of Government and International Affairs at the University of the Incarnate Word and the 2017-18 President of the Southwestern Social Science Association. Dr. Andrade is an expert in the field of American Politics. Her areas of interest include Congress, the Presidency, campaigns and elections and women in politics. The primary focus of her research is on the Presidency and specifically, the domestic conditions influencing presidential use of force, Presidential scandal, and Presidential leadership of public opinion. She has presented her research at numerous US and International conferences, published her work in a variety of Political Science journals and edited texts as well as written several textbooks and teaching guides on American Politics. She is also an active consultant in the Advanced Placement Program American Government Program.

Dr. Scott Dittloff is professor in the Department of Government and International Affairs at the University of the Incarnate Word. His teaching and research interests focus on human rights, Caribbean/Latin American politics, international relations, and politics and culture. Publications include “The Changing Economic Relationship: Caribbean Trade With the European Union” in Verbum Incarnatum: An Academic Journal of Social Justice, CLEP Social Sciences and History with TestWare, Workbook for American Politics (with Lydia Andrade), “Juárez: The Reflection of U.S. Values in a Historical Drama” in The Journal of Hispanic Higher Education, and numerous articles on Caribbean and Latin American politics in various reference works. Dr. Dittloff serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Social Sciences and the British Journal of Applied Science & Technology. He is Secretary and Exhibits Coordinator of the Southwest Social Science Association and served on the College Board CLEP Social Sciences and History Committee.

Dr. Lopita Nath is the Chair of the History Department and the Director of the Asian Studies Program at the University of the Incarnate Word. She is also the Vice-Chair of the Ettling Center for Civic Leadership at the university. Dr. Nath is an expert on migration in Asia and issues of human displacement, refugees, and human rights. In 2003, she authored her first book, The Nepalis in Assam: Cross Border Movements and Ethnicity, (Minerva: Kolkata, India). Her current research is on the Bhutanese refugee resettlement in the United States. Dr. Nath has presented at several U.S. and International conferences, and published several articles and book chapters on her research. She is the past president of the Southwest Conference on Asian Studies, Coordinator of the European, Middle-Eastern and Asian Studies at the Southwest Historical Association and serves on the boards of the Catholic Charities and the Institute of Texan Cultures.

Dr. Rozanov is a graduate of Lomonosov Moscow State University (Faculty of Global Studies), a PhD specialist in International Relations, a military phychologist, an expert of Global Studies Consortium (USA), a member of the European International Studies Association (Belgium); UNESCO coordinator (France, Paris), a Head of the International Department of Moscow Institute of Public Administration and Law (Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs), a Visiting Lecturer at Wroslaw University (Poland) and Iranian Center for Globalization Studies (Iran). In 2017 Dr. Rozanov has become a Section Chair of the 12th Pan-European Conference on International Relations (Prague, 2018). From 2008-2013 Dr. Rozanov had been working as a senior analyst in the Russian Government and the Russian Commission for UNESCO. In 2014-2016 the specialist had been working as a Deputy Dean for Foreign Affairs in the Faculty of Global Studies at Lomonosov MSU.

His area of scientific interests is an International Security, International Law, Economic and Political Development of the EU, Asia-Pacific Region Development, International Cooperation in Counter-Terrorism. He is an author of more than 60 articles and 6 books.

Timothy J. Owens is Professor of Sociology at Kent State University in Ohio, USA. Taking a life course perspective, his research focuses on how identity/self-concept influence the mental, emotional, and social well-being of adolescents and young adults. His work has appeared in the American Sociological Review, Annual Review of Sociology, Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Social Forces, and Social Psychology Quarterly, to name a few. He has also authored the monograph From Adolescence to Adulthood in the Vietnam Era (Springer, 2005) and co-edited three books on self, self-concept, identity, and mental health: Extending Self-Esteem Theory and Research: Sociological and Psychological Currents (Cambridge University Press, 2001) and Self, Identity, and Social Movements (University of Minnesota Press, 2000), and Advances in Identity Theory and Research (Plenum, 2003). He also founded and then edited Advances in Life Course Research and edited from 1999-2008. The father of three young adults, he resides in Kent, Ohio with his wife of 37 years.

Douglas A. Feldman, Ph.D. is a Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, former Chair of the Department of Anthropology, and former President of the Society for Medical Anthropology. He has conducted extensive HIV/AIDS social and epidemiologic research in the United States, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Senegal, and Hungary. He is the author/editor of the following books: The Social Dimensions of AIDS: Method and Theory (1986); Culture and AIDS (1990); Global AIDS Policy (1994); The AIDS Crisis: A Documentary History (1998); AIDS, Culture, and Africa (2008); Ethnicity and Health Care Delivery: Sexually Transmitted Diseases (2009); and AIDS, Culture, and Gay Men (2010). He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Debrecen in Hungary; Research Associate Professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine; Professor, Institute Director, and Academic Director at Nova Southeastern University; and founding Executive Director of the AIDS Center of Queens County.

He is author/editor of seven books about HIV/AIDS and anthropology, most recently AIDS, Culture, and Gay Men. He has conducted social research on HIV/AIDS in the United States, Hungary, Zambia, Uganda, Rwanda, and Senegal.

He held tenure as Professor and Chair at City University of New York where he headed a large unit housing psychology, sociology, anthropology, social work, disability studies, women's studies, aging, and a number of interdisciplinary initiatives. He was on the faculty of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, until 1992 where he served as a forerunner of China's rebuilt social work education and research.

Nasser Ary Tanimoune has a PhD in Economics from the University of Orleans (France) and has done postdoctoral research at CNRS at the Center for Studies and Research in International Development (CERDI), in Clermont-Ferrand (France). He is the first laureate of the Abdoulaye FADIGA Price awarded by the Central Bank of West African States (Central Bank of West African States, BCEAO) in 2009.His work deals with financing structures (banks, microcredit and tontines) and their effectiveness in developing countries.
